Coming Soon: The new JLH website is being constructed now and will hopefully be live soon.
The new site is much more comprehensive than this old one and includes a parts shopping cart.

JLH Restoration was founded in 1993 and has in fifteen years earned a reputation for quality work and service. Essentially a body shop, with services ranging from M.O.T repairs to full scale rebuilds, our work is second to none. We confidently guarantee our welding for five years and all bare metal resprays to twelve months warranty.

Over the last ten years, we have incorporated modification work into our repertoire, from more comfortable seats, two speed wipers or upgraded heaters to full blown changes of engine and transmission. We have offered 1275 A series engines with 5 speed gearboxes and FIAT twin cams. However, we have invested a great deal of time and resources into developing a conversion system suitable for the new millennium. Consequently we now offer a fitting kit for the Rover K series engines, from the 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 up to the 1.8 and 1.8vvc units, mated to either the standard Ford 5 speed or V6 gearboxes. To complement and exploit the dynamics offered by these conversions we have designed a new handling and braking system.

Three proud men, one lovely Minor.
Under the bonnet

From front to back we start with our own Ford Sierra based disc brake kit with either solid or vented discs. We now remove the torsion bar system and replace this with a more tuneable coil-over-shock system together with upgraded bushes. We now install the Escort Mk2 axle, again with our own disc brake conversion, also based on Ford components.

Handling is transformed by fitting telescopic adjustable dampers mounted through the rear floor into turrets. We also offer our own radius arm kit, offering better axle location. These modifications enable the Minor to be driven as quickly as a modern hot-hatch and with comparable handling limits. When allied to the K series drive train it offers the answer for Minor development into the next century.

This K series kit is the first commercially available and has been designed, built and fitted by JLH in association with Southam Motorsport and has been thoroughly tested by independent engineers. We have now clocked 5,000 trouble-free miles on our own 1.4 car and have achieved a maximum of 55mpg, 35-40mpg being the norm, this with a performance of 0-60 in 8.4 seconds and a top speed approaching 125mph. A trip to the 'rolling road' has proven the abilities of JLH Motorsport in producing a performance manifold, exhaust system and air filter which now pushes the power of the 1.4 motor to 127bhp at 5683rpm at the rear wheels, almost 140 at the flywheel. All this with 122 lbft of torque...this is some motor!

You can also benefit from the knowledge that you are buying more environment friendly as this car can also run a catalytic converter. You are welcome to sample this performance in our demo Traveller, please bring a change of underwear! Soon to be released is the JLH Minor Traveller for the new millennium with the 1.8 K Series power...watch this space.
